Pickle Pop-Up — Workshop

Pickles are a carrier of culture — in more ways than one. Explore how the practice of pickling can spark creative writing or performance-making!

From inspiration to research to artistic output, students will experience a microcosm of this creative process. The workshop includes a guided pickling session using “ugly” produce. The act of pickling becomes inspiration for the students’ future creative works: through the excavation and sharing of family histories and recipes; through experiencing the embodied practice of preservation; through a change in perspective of where inspiration can be found.

Additionally, students will be introduced to Eco-Theatre — an emerging genre which not only seeks to open up conversations about the climate crisis, but to incorporate sustainability-led creative decisions.
